COMPETITION FOR TEACHERS!!!

The British Council Ukraine, the newspaper “English” and IATEFL Ukraine announce a new creative teaching competition for English language teachers.

Send us a lesson plan for young learners and win a prize: Kindle e-reader or free participation in the British Council Ukraine – IATEFL Ukraine summer school.

Terms of the competition

• The lesson is for young learners (age 6 – 12).
• The layout of the lesson plan is loose but the topic, aims and learning outcomes should be clearly stated.
• The lesson should integrate learning technologies, e.g. the Internet, MS Office applications, video or audio. It should also incorporate resources from the British Council LearnEnglish Kids website http://learnenglishkids.britishcouncil.org/en/ . The British Council TeachEnglish website http://www.teachingenglish.org.uk can be used as a source of ideas and help.
• Contestants are responsible for complying with copyright.
• Competition organisers reserve the right to systematise, edit and post materials in different formats in compliance with copyright law.

Submission requirements

• The deadline for submissions is 15 May 2012.
• Lesson plans and additional materials should be sent to:

• The plans should be submitted as MSWord.
• Pictures, presentations, etc. should be submitted as separate attachments in JPG or PDF format.
• The overall volume of attachments should not exceed 7MB.
• Video and audio recourses from the Internet are not submitted but relevant links should be provided in the lesson plan.

Key evaluation criteria

Originality, creativity, modern teaching approaches, logical lesson stages, responsiveness to students’ learning styles, adequate use of Internet resources, timing, lay out.

Competition results

Three best plans will get one of the following prizes: free participation in the British Council Ukraine – IATEFL Ukraine summer school for teachers in June 2012, Kindle e-reader or a Story Sack.

All the participants will get certificates and books from the newspaper English.
